Forcadell calls Borràs not to think about her but about the prestige of the Parliament

The former president of the Parlament Carme Forcadell has summoned the current president of the Chamber, Laura Borràs, to ensure the prestige of the institution after the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has left her one step away from seating her in the defendant's bench for, among other crimes, embezzlement of public funds when he presided over the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes.

In an interview on the program "Aquí Cuní" on Ser Catalunya, Forcadell acknowledged that his successor in office is in a "very difficult and complicated" situation because she presides over the institution that "represents all of us Catalans" and, therefore, , in her opinion, "should not think about herself but should also think about the prestige of the institution".

Forcadell recalled that the Parliament "must be an exemplary institution, it must have zero tolerance for corruption, it must be and must be an institution of which we Catalans feel proud". For this reason, he has considered that Borràs "must give very convincing explanations", although he has admitted that he does not know what he would do if he were in the same situation as the president of JuntsxCat. "She must make a difficult decision," she asserted.

Borràs' position could be in danger by virtue of article 25.4 of the Parliament's regulations, which refers to the suspension of the rights of deputies if an oral trial is opened for corruption, an article that Borràs intended to eliminate in a future reform.
