Fog forces the Queen to divert her plane from Santiago to A Coruña

Change of route due to fog. The plane in which Queen Letizia was traveling to Galicia to inaugurate the school year at a school in the town of Sigüeiro, belonging to the town of Oroso (A Coruña), has been forced to change its route as it was unable to land, as It was planned, at the Santiago de Compostela airport, and being forced to detour to A Coruña airport.

The event that was to begin at 11:30 this Monday has been delayed one hour, with prior notice from Zarzuela, to give time for the Queen, who is accompanied by the Minister of Education, Pilar Alegría, to arrive at the town, located 10 kilometers from Santiago and about 50 from A Coruña.

Like every year, the Queen symbolically inaugurates the school year in different schools in Spain, coinciding with the start of classes. For primary and secondary education, on this occasion, the CEIP Plurilingüe do Camiño Inglés has been chosen, in the A Coruña municipality of Sigüeiro-Oroso, a center that earlier this year received the Innovagal award for centers that carry out didactic approaches and novel.

Letizia visits three classrooms, two of them Primary - fourth and fifth - and one of Infants and will meet with the educational community. Waiting for her at the center, in addition to the excited children, was the president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, the Minister of Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities, Román Rodríguez, and the president of the Parliament of Galicia, Miguel Ángel Santalices, among other authorities. .

Upon her arrival at the school, at whose doors a large group of neighbors were waiting to welcome her, the Queen apologized for the involuntary delay. Smiling and ready, she immediately entered the center to chat with the children who were waiting for her. For her visit to school, Letizia has chosen a sailor outfit consisting of navy blue pants and a striped sweater from the Hugo Boss brand.

More than eight million students have started classes in Spain, in some communities already last week and, the rest, this Monday.

Next Wednesday, Queen Letizia is scheduled to preside over the opening of the 2023/2024 Vocational Training Course at the Integrated FP Center for Communication, Image and Sound (CISLAN) in the Asturian town of Langreo. The Langreo Integrated Vocational Training Center for Communication, Image and Sound (CIFP CISLAN) is a public center inaugurated in 2006, which is part of the Network of Integrated Centers of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Principality of Asturias.
