Agents of the National Police have arrested five people, three men and two women, who specialize in stealing mobile phones from stations and train carriages, the Madrid Police Headquarters reported in a statement on Tuesday.
A careless theft prevention device in the area around the Villaverde Bajo station resulted in the location of five individuals, who were surprised when they were preparing to act.
Investigation efforts made it possible to prove that they formed a specialized group, with distribution of tasks, that stole mobile phones and sent them abroad to make it difficult to locate them. After being arrested, they were placed at the disposal of the judicial authority as alleged perpetrators of nine crimes of theft and membership in a criminal group.
