Several young people were injured last night in a fight that occurred at the end of the concerts at the La Mercè festival stage set up on Bogatell beach in Barcelona, Mossos sources have reported.
The event occurred minutes before four in the morning in the Nova Icària neighborhood where, for reasons that are now being investigated, two groups of young people clashed, some of whom were evacuated to the hospital injured. The Mossos d'Esquadra have specified that they received the notice at 3:57 a.m. and have opened an investigation to clarify the facts and find the perpetrators. Specifically, the confrontation would have originated at number 195 Icària Avenue.
The Medical Emergency System (SEM) has sent six ambulances to the area, where they have treated the three injured by stab weapons. One of them, evacuated to Hospital del Mar, is in critical condition. Another, in less serious condition, is in the Sant Pau Hospital.
This incident is the most serious event at La Mercè, after the Barcelona City Council celebrated that Friday night was a complete success, without any serious altercation.
A little later, around four thirty in the morning, another group of young people, in this case larger, confronted the Mossos at the end of the La Mercè concerts on the stage installed on Menéndez y Pelayo street, in the University Zone of the Catalan capital.
In this case, the young people have thrown bottles at the agents and have tried to block the passage of the agents with garbage containers placed in the middle of the road, incidents that have lasted for an hour and have led to the arrest of several people . The incidents spread to Diagonal Avenue until shortly before six in the morning.
Some 40,000 people have gathered on the stage on Menéndez y Pelayo street, in the Les Corts district, while 25,000 have attended the concerts on Bogatell beach and 18,000 at the Moll de la Fusta, according to municipal sources.
The council has pointed out that this second night has been the "most intense" in terms of attendance at the cultural programming.
In relation to mobility, 1.6 million trips were made on public transport, a figure that represents an increase of 27% compared to the same day in 2019.
