Firefighters rescue four people by helicopter in a single day in the Valencian mountains

The Valencia Provincial Fire Brigade Consortium has carried out four mountain rescues in a single day -this Easter Sunday, a day where there is traditionally a large influx of visitors to natural spaces- in which it has had to use a helicopter to assist people injured in various places.

The "most serious" situation occurred in the afternoon, when at 6:00 p.m. the firefighters received notice that a young man of around 26 years of age had disappeared in the Drova area, between Barx and Gandia, for which the Consortium mobilized the GERA rescue group with a V-990 helicopter from the Consortium with a doctor, and by land to the head of the Consortium sector and the Generalitat's forest fire brigade unit.

About forty minutes later, the Consortium helicopter located the victim from the air, who appeared to have fallen through a cut. The GERA rescue team and the doctor descended on the young man, who was semi-unconscious, stabilizing him and extracting him via air. The helicopter transferred him to the Hospital de la Fe, where the health media took over.

Previously, around eight in the morning, another young man was rescued who had suffered a fall of about three meters in the castle of Chirel de Cortes de Pallás.

At 1:20 p.m., they mobilized again to help an injured hiker in Teresa de Cofrentes, where in addition to GERA and the helicopter, the Consortium's forest coordinator, volunteer firefighters from Ayora and forest firefighters were mobilized. She was evacuated by helicopter to the helipad of the fire brigade in Alzira, where she was transferred to medical facilities.

And also at 3:26 p.m., a new air rescue of another injured hiker was carried out on the Chulilla Hanging Bridges route, where volunteer firefighters from Chelva and the Consorcio forest coordinator, and forest firefighters also attended. She was extracted with a rescue stretcher with the helicopter and transferred to the Llíria hospital.

The Consortium of Firefighters recalls that it has a preventive campaign underway during this Easter holiday period, with advice and recommendations on safe outings to the mountains, such as wearing good shoes, hydrating yourself, studying the route to follow, avoiding going alone and know the weather forecast.
