Firefighters are working on a fire in the Pândols mountain range, in Gandesa

The Fire Department of the Generalitat is working with 25 ground crews this Saturday on a forest vegetation fire in the Sierra de Pàndols, in the municipality of Gandesa (Tarragona). The fire warning was given at 1:04 p.m.

The Firefighters have also displaced a helicopter and two surveillance and attack planes from the body (AVA), as reported on their social networks.

The body works with a water line on the right flank of the fire "so that it does not catch the wind in its favor", and with hand tools on the left flank so that the fire does not spread.

The mayor of Gandesa, Carles Luz, has explained in statements to TV3 collected by Europa Press, that the fire affects a "graphically very complex" area and that the wind this Sunday makes it difficult to control the fire. Luz has detailed that the area in danger of being affected has a total area of 1,900 hectares.

He has pointed out that there are no houses near the fire, so the population should not be evicted, but he has detailed that the accesses to the Fontcalda hermitage have been closed, and he has asked the public "not to go" and not to approach the area of the fire.
