Pedro Almodóvar, Feroz Audi de Honor 2023 Award, will be the honorary guest: one of the most recognizable and influential voices in contemporary, universal and fierce auteur cinema, according to the Association of Cinematographic Informants of Spain, promoter of these awards granted by the criticism of our country.
In the film categories, the ten nominations for As bestas have tied the record for nominations for Feroz, which until now had held The Minimal Island, The Man with a Thousand Faces, The Kingdom and Pain and Glory. Rodrigo Sorogoyen's feature film starts as a favorite over other films such as Cinco lobitos or Modelo 77.
Cinco lobitos, by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, will compete for seven prizes, while Cerdita, by Carlota Pereda, will compete for six; Modelo 77 will arrive with five nominations and, with four, One Year and One Night. Alcarrás, Girasoles silvestres, La materna and Manticora will compete in three categories; In the margins, The Rite of Spring, The Crooked Lines of God and Vasil will compete for the awards with two nominations.
In the Best Director section, together with Sorogoyen, four female filmmakers are nominated for the first time in the history of these awards: Pilar Palomero and Carla Simón, with their second feature films, and Carlota Pereda and Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, with their debut films. .
The competition is tighter in the category of best leading actor. There are six candidates, due to a tie in the voting: Karra Elejalde (Vasil), Miguel Herrán (Modelo 77), Denis Ménochet (As bestas), Nahuel Pérez Biscayart (One year, one night), Nacho Sánchez (Manticora) and Luis Tosar (In the margins).
In series, The route is the one that monopolizes the most nominations, up to six, followed by the four that treasure Blackout, Intimacy, I don't like driving and Rapa. In total, in the 2023 Feroz Awards there will be 21 categories: eleven film, seven series, two Feroz Arrebato Awards and the Feroz Audi of Honor to Pedro Almodóvar.
