Feijóo will propose extending the gas VAT reduction until the end of winter

Reduction of VAT on gas to 5% until the end of winter, and not until the end of the year, as the Government has announced. It is one of the proposals that the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will make tomorrow in the debate that will be held tomorrow in the Senate, on the energy crisis and its economic and social consequences.

A measure that will be included in a document that the PP will send this week to the Palacio de La Moncloa, as it has already done with its anti-crisis plan, with its proposal on National Security, or on Judicial Independence.

Feijóo anticipated some of the measures that will be included in that document that he will send to Sánchez. Among them, that while the energy crisis lasts, all the energy sources in Spain be exploited, which is a way of insisting that the life of nuclear power plants be extended, which in his opinion are not extended "by a priori ideological".

Likewise, Feijóo is committed to debureaucratizing renewable energies, with regulatory frameworks that facilitate their installation, especially installations related to self-consumption. Also aid and subsidies for electro-intensive and electro-intensive hierp companies, that is, those in which energy is a determining factor in their costs, as the German government did yesterday.

Feijóo, who announced that in the coming weeks he will send another two new proposals to the Government, on matters that he did not want to reveal, assured that his opposition will be made from moderation and proposition, against a Government that "lives its autumn", until point of considering that if there were elections on Sunday "there would be a change of government", although he recognized that since there are no elections on Sunday, it is not possible to know.

The president of the PP draws a government that is "impossible to do good politics, when so many efforts are devoted to saving votes at the last minute." That is, focused on a "short-term policy, and in the search for a headline."

Feijóo considers that "presenting each debate as a confrontation of models", instead of doing it as a battle, is a mistake.

For this reason, he hopes that tomorrow's debate in the Senate "could be the beginning of a change in the Government and of a Government that agrees to negotiate with the PP", although for this it has to "override the vetoes of its partners ". Feijóo does not believe that tomorrow's debate has to be seen in the key of who is playing more, Pedro Sánchez or Núñez Feijóo, because "who are playing more are households and businessmen." Moreover, the leader of the PP considers that if the Prime Minister believes that he "is here to show off and not wear himself out, it is that he has not understood his mission."

At an informative breakfast organized by Europa Press, which was attended by numerous managers of large Spanish companies, as well as the Secretary General of the CC.OO, Unai Sordo, and the Ombudsman, Ángel Gabilondo, Alberto Núñez Feijóo also spoke about Catalonia. His project is "to recover the Catalan constitutionalist vote, which feels like an orphan", because in his opinion "it is not represented by the PSC", which has agreed with the ERC in Spain and in the Catalan town halls.

There is a void, said Feijóo "that the PP has to occupy", because it always occupied it "until the star appearance of Ciudadanos", and that it addresses "every Catalan who, being Catalan, feels Spanish: that speaking Catalan they also speak Spanish, and that feels represented in the Constitution". All those Catalans, he said, "are called" to join this project, because "the Procès has been a very bad deal for Catalonia" and the PP represents "constitutionalism and Catalanism."
