Feijóo's salary that was yet to be known: 31,850 euros for presiding over the PP in the Senate

During the general election campaign, the PP announced that its president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, charges 39,260 euros from the party for representation expenses. In addition, as a senator he received until now 70,000 euros per year. An assignment was missing because it was known that PP sources have confirmed to EFE and that eldiario.es announced: Feijóo received 31,850 euros as president of the PP parliamentary group in the Senate last year.

This is the complement that Feijóo received from his parliamentary group since May 2022, which the PP leader has communicated to the Upper House and which sources from the Popular Party have confirmed to EFE. According to the popular, he had no obligation to communicate it until he stopped being a senator, this Thursday, August 17, when he will stop being a senator to become a deputy.

The PP emphasizes that this complete is part of the remuneration regime of the parliamentary group in the Senate and that it is not a party salary. In addition, they emphasize that the formation has not hidden anything in this regard.

To the 31,850 euros that Feijóo received from his parliamentary group and the 39,260 euros that he received from his party is added the "constitutional allowance" as a senator, of 3,337.33 euros per month, with 14 payments, subject to taxation and "compensation" for being a senator from a constituency that is not Madrid, which amounts to 1,958 euros per month, a computation that exceeds 70,000 euros per year.

The PSOE, which managed to get the Senate to urge Feijóo to update his declaration of assets -which he has not done so far- has accused the president of the PP of lying after learning about this complement, with criticism through X (formerly Twitter) from various leaders such as Senator Eva Granados or the party spokesperson, Pilar Alegría.
