Feijóo censors Sánchez's intention to reform the crime of sedition

For the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the Government's pact with the ERC "is going too far", especially if President Sánchez agrees, as the Republicans ask him to definitively support the budgets, to reform the crime of sedition of the Penal Code. "This is the biggest attack on freedom and equality in Spain, where we must all be equal before the law, starting with politicians," he warned yesterday from Lleida.

The opposition leader's warning is not trivial considering that the Government and the PP have been holding discreet negotiations for weeks to finally carry out the reform of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), contacts that are expected to lead to fruits "soon", according to the popular. The agreement would be very advanced, to the point that both parties would have begun to sound out possible candidates to be part of the future governing body of the judges.

The irruption of the debate on the reform of the Penal Code to adapt the crime for which the procés leaders were convicted could well complicate the negotiations, but for now, Feijóo does not link both issues, although he makes it clear that it will be a source of reproach.

At the closing ceremony of the 13th provincial congress of the PP in Lleida together with Alejandro Fernández, the popular leader did not mention the Judiciary, but harshly criticized the "commitment" that he considers the Government has acquired so that "if a politician commits a crime no penalty is applied." As he said, "we should all be equal before the law" because "following the law is a guarantee of freedom and equality", that is why "it is unacceptable that the Government trades with the rights of citizens", he warned.

Feijóo considered equally unacceptable that "a government agrees not to comply with the Constitution in a part of Spain", as it would be, as he said, "that a government does not comply with the Statute in Catalonia or that the central Government acts as a lifeline to the Government of Catalonia " .

In his opinion, everything responds to Sánchez's will to have ERC, because without it "he would not be president." For this reason, "the dependency pact is going too far," she reproached.

Aware that the good progress of the Catalan PP in the community depends on recovering the weight that it once had in the province of Lleida, Feijóo extended his criticism of the PSC for its temperate attitude towards the Government of Pere Aragonès and appealed to the socialist voters who they opted for this party "so that the independentistas would not govern" with a moderate recipe: "They only expect us to explain ourselves well, without anger, without stressing."

Among the sticks that Feijóo touched in the congress, where Xavier Palau was chosen to continue leading the PP of Lleida, the future of the general budgets of the State was not lacking. The leader of the PP once again demanded that Sánchez withdraw the budgets after being "disavowed by all the independent organizations of Spain and by other international ones." In his opinion, the numbers raised only serve to "please" his partners and prolong his stay in Moncloa "a few more months."
