Fallas de Valencia 2023 | This is how the 'mascletà' was this Friday, March 17

The Crespo Pyrotechnics thundered through the center of Valencia this Friday with a fast and vibrant mascletà, and silenced the thousands of people who packed the Plaza del Ayuntamiento for a few minutes to witness one of the central acts of each Fallas day.

Starring the double thunder developed by this firm from Alzira and two powerful earthquakes -air and land- the seventeenth mascletà of the present fallas cycle has started with colorful lightning the crackle of dozens of aerial candles to finish off with hundreds of 'double crespos' of different calibers.

The pyrotechnics responsible for the mascletà on March 17 currently holds the Guinness record for the manufacture, assembly and firing of the longest fireworks in the world, with more than 22 kilometres, which was fired in October 2015 in Alzira (Valencia).

From the balcony of the City Hall they have witnessed the launch, together with the mayor and the older falleras, the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant; the rector of the University of Valencia, Mavi Mestre; the Minister of Finance, Arcadi Spain; the Minister of Agriculture, Isaura Navarro; that of Public Works, Rebeca Torró; the trustee of Compromís, Papi Robles, the general secretary of Ciudadanos, Adrián Vázquez; comedian Eugeni Alemany and television presenter Nuria Roca.

Red Cross personnel have treated 63 people, 29 of them due to fainting and 9 due to anxiety crises, although only one of them has been transferred to a hospital - a man who presented chest pain.

The city is fully immersed in the Fallas celebration, with all the monuments shining in all their splendor, and the heart of the city faces one of the most massive Fallas weekends in memory.
