Expectation in the Valencian left after the step forward of Yolanda Díaz

"We have a variable electoral geometry. Now polyamory is in style." With this reference to erotic and stable relationships between several people with the consent of all of them, increasingly in vogue, a Compromís leader responded to the decision of the Vice President of the Government of Spain, Yolanda Díaz, to register the registration of the entity 'Sumar' to undertake the so-called “listening process”.

And it is that the request of the team of the second vice president and Minister of Labor to the registry of associations of the Ministry of the Interior to register this new label has generated expectation in the Valencian left.

In the US they are the most enthusiastic. Training sources explain that the step forward taken by Díaz "seems very good to them." They argue that "we must build a broad front that goes beyond political organizations" -they consider that we must go beyond the Unides Podem space- and add other sensitivities. They have already made it clear that they are an autonomous organization and will separately negotiate any alliance.

They indicate that they have always been "supporters of dialogue and talk to reach broad agreements and consensus for a broad and progressive candidacy." And they add an element of discord between the Valencian left, the agreement must serve for the state scenario, but that "it would also have to work to achieve agreements in the regional and municipal spheres".

In Podem they have always been in favor of that broad front. In fact, the leadership of the regional organization was overturned with the already distant act of Other Policies starring Mónica Oltra and Yolanda Díaz in the city of Valencia.

"From Podem we have been pointing out the need to build alliances and unity for a long time, to join forces for a country project with a hopeful future horizon. Now one more step has been taken," explain sources from the purple formation.

They understand that Sumar "starts that project that we greet with hope and with the commitment to commit to unity." "The unity of the forces of change is what we have been clamoring for for months in the Valencian Community, we are sure that Sumar will help to advance in that direction", the same sources insist.

However, the truth is that in her latest speeches, the general coordinator of Podem, Pilar Lima, did not want to go much further and even went so far as to stress that this is not the time to think about electoral alliances but to focus on the work that is still remains to be done. It cannot be ignored that there is a growing distance between the space of Yolanda Díaz and the state leadership of Podemos -with the clear example of the Andalusian candidacy- and this has also forced the discourses within the different spaces to be modulated.

The regional leadership of Podem has always opted for Díaz but it is difficult to think that if the rope ends up breaking, Lima and his people will go free, ignoring the state guidelines.

A less striking fact. The second vice president of the Government will not be this weekend at the big event that Podemos will hold in the Viveros de València park due to scheduling problems. Instead, it will be the week following the International Summit on the 4-day Week organized by the Generalitat Valenciana. In this congress, the leader will coincide with the leader of Más País, Íñigo Errejón, and many of the institutional references of Compromís.

And while in the Valencian coalition everything that happens is carefully watched. Those closest to Oltra point out that "although the registration is a simple administrative procedure, the will to continue is demonstrated" with the idea that the Valencian vice president has always defended.

In the part of Més Compromís they are more cautious. They point out that there is no problem sitting down to talk to everyone, although there are voices within the formation that emphasize that the constant fights within that space can end up harming them. All in all, the red line remains the same. Any agreement must be made "horizontally" and "on an equal footing."
