Esquerra files three new lawsuits for espionage

Esquerra Republicana has presented this morning, through its lawyer Andreu Van en Eynde, three more complaints in relation to the case of the so-called Catalangate in the same court of instruction number 32, in which other similar demands are being studied. In a statement, ERC explains that the complaint has been filed on behalf of the president of the parliamentary group and the Consell Nacional d'Esquerra Republicana, Josep Maria Jové, the MEP Diana Riba and the lawyer himself, who was also a victim of espionage.

ERC exposes that, after Citizen Lab made public "the largest case of espionage using Pegasus", they have decided to "expand the legal action" against the manufacturer of the spy malware, NSO, requesting that the investigation "focus on the CNI ”.

The Republican party guarantees that its objective is none other than "allowing the events that occurred to be known in their entirety", as well as "guessing the identity of the authors". In short, the only way to "avoid impunity for the events" and seek fair compensation for the "damages caused to the victims."

It should also be noted that, the same court number 32, also has the complaint filed by the Minister of Business, then President of the Parliament, Roger Torrent, and that it was launched almost two years before the definitive outbreak of the case. Ernest Maragall also filed a complaint for the same room, which will soon be joined by MEP Jordi Solé.

The statement from the republican formation also informs of upcoming legal actions that another of the victims will take, in this case from abroad, Secretary General Marta Rovira, who will undertake them from Switzerland, the country where she has lived since her departure in 2018.
