Espanyol, about to sign José Gragera

Espanyol is close to closing its third addition to this winter market. This is the Sportinguista José Gragera, who in the absence of a signature, will be a parakeet player until 2026, according to Cope Cataluña. According to this information, both entities have already reached an agreement in principle and the operation is pending some fringes.

In the absence of the agreement becoming official, the Asturian footballer would sign with Espanyol until 2026 in exchange for 2.8 million euros. Although the percentage that Sporting de Gijón would charge in the event of a future transfer remains pending.

Gragera will join the blue and white team at his express wish. The player rejected the renewal offers from Sporting de Gijón and also ignored Sporting Braga's interest in taking over his services. The midfielder always prioritized Espanyol, something key for the operation to be carried out.

In recent days, Espanyol has been negotiating for several players, with the intention of finalizing the incorporation of a midfielder to replace Keidi Bare's loss. Jean Lucas, from Monaco, and Paul Akouokou, from Betis, were the other players surveyed by the blue and white team.

Gragera, 22, is a defensive midfielder with a great physical presence but with the technical ability to get the ball played. Until now he had played his entire career at Sporting, with whom he made his debut in the Second Division two and a half years ago. Since then he has been a fixture for all the coaches. An under-21 international, with this signing Espanyol acquires a player who should be important in the coming years.
