ERC, Junts and the CUP come together to reject the accusations of politicization of the Mossos body

The parliamentary groups of Junts and ERC have come together in the Catalan Chamber to reject the accusations that the PSC has been making against the Government as a result of the open crisis in the Catalan police as a result of the dismissal of the chief commissioner of the Mossos, Josep Maria Estela .

The Socialists, who have raised the tone since the dismissal of the head of the body, accusing the Minister of the Interior of interfering politically in the body, have not been able to carry out their denunciation of "the existence of repeated attempts to politicize the body, turning it into currency of change to achieve agreements of a partisan nature”.

Precisely this reference to partisan agreements, in reference to the investiture pact between ERC and CUP, where reference was made to the role of the Mossos in certain cases and the need to review the public order model, has made anti-capitalists also Republicans and postconvergents have joined, reissuing for a few moments the agreement that once allowed President Pere Aragonès to be sworn in.

On the other hand, the part of the motion in which the Government is urged to “avoid any interference of a political nature” in the technical decisions of the Mossos was able to go ahead; to "guarantee impartiality and rigor in all selection and internal promotion processes" of the body, as well as to ensure the "absolute tightness" of the investigations of the judicial police, avoiding "any interference in them." This part of the motion prospered with the favorable vote of the ERC and with the abstention of the postconvergents, despite the fact that these are precisely the accusations that these days are poured on the head of the Interior as a result of Estela's dismissal.

In the debate on the motion it was possible to verify how Junts did not want to draw blood from Elena's management with the Mossos body and, although they noted the absence of a "political project for the Mossos and for the local police", they were belligerent with the intentions of the PSC with this motion and prescribed "stability" for the body.

The CUP also accused the PSC and the rest of the parties of trying to politicize the body. In reference to the socialist leader, Salvador Illa, the anti-capitalists made him ugly for urging Aragonès to choose between them or the PSC in matters of security. “This is not partisan? Is this not politicizing? It doesn't strain. This what he intends is to influence politically, "they accused.

The Socialists only managed to obtain the votes of the PP, Ciudadanos and Vox, while the common ones abstained. The PSC-Units Interior spokesman, Ramon Espadaler, reproached Elena that since she has been in office, "we have not stopped talking about crisis in the body” police, as well as the “disservice” that in his opinion the minister is doing to the cause he claims to defend, feminization, anticipating that the objective is to have a Mossos chief who is a woman, which in his opinion to understand is to send her a message that she will be appointed not for her abilities but for the mere fact of being a woman.

Espadaler threatened to present the parliamentary disapproval of Minister Elena if his explanations are not convincing, which will take place next week in an appearance at the Interior Commission on Tuesday, October 25.
