Emma Nogueiro, the partner of Fernando Sánchez Dragó, broken by grief for the death of the writer

This Monday, April 10, the Spanish writer Fernando Sánchez Dragó died at his home at the age of 86 after suffering a heart attack in a Soria municipality, where he lived with his current partner, Emma Nogueiro.

Just a few minutes before the tragedy, the author of The Left Hand Path was writing some messages on his official Twitter account, so the unexpected news shocked his followers.

The reactions to the death of the writer were not long in coming and hundreds of public figures dedicated a few words on social networks to say goodbye to one of the most prominent essayists and novelists in our country.

There were also many who took advantage of the news of his death to remember the long list of controversies that the author accumulated in life, since he was characterized by his acid humor and for having a controversial opinion about the figure of women in society, as well as for defending a series of ideas with which he set fire to social networks day in and day out.

One of the reactions that raised the most expectation was that of the writer's ex-wife, Beatriz Salama, who was one of the first to speak about the loss of Sánchez Dragó. The Telecinco program Sálvame was in charge of collecting Salama's testimony: ''The truth is that you catch me at a bad time, Fernando has just died. Both have left me in 15 months. The truth is that I am in shock. He was great '', said the woman, very emotional at the loss of her ex and her current partner, Antonio Escohotado, in just a few months.

"Life is now and then you don't know, that is...", the woman added when asked by the journalists. '' She has taken great care of me since Antonio died, she has been very attentive to me. That's what's left for me '', she sentenced visibly broken.

For her part, the author's current partner, Emma Nogueiro, has declared that the family is "destroyed" by the news. The young woman, 57 years younger than Dragó, was with him in the house of Castilfrío de la Sierra when he suffered a heart attack that led to his death.

The journalist met the author in 2017, when she worked as an editor for the Almuzara publishing house and interviewed Sánchez Dragó. This encounter changed the lives of both of them, since from that moment on they were never separated.

After a very intimate funeral chapel in which they have fled from media coverage and social upheaval, Sánchez Dragó will be buried on Tuesday, April 11 at 6:00 p.m. in the Castilfrío de la Sierra cemetery, located a few meters from his home.

The writer had expressed on more than one occasion that he did not want to be cremated and that he wanted his mortal remains to be taken to the cemetery of this small municipality of no more than 27 inhabitants.
