Elite Taxi asks taxi drivers to vote for the PSC

The spokesman for Elite Taxi, Tito Álvarez, has called on taxi drivers to vote for the PSC on 28-M, considering that it is the formation that has shown "the most results" in the sector's fight against VTCs. In an open letter, Álvarez values that with the former president of IMET Rosa Alarcón and the current one, Laia Bonet, he has had "the best dialogue that the taxi could have in the institutions" and "they have made it easier for his party to become aware" of the situation of the taxi "assuming it as his own". In this sense, he highlights the role "especially harsh against the VTC" in the approval of the last decree. About the current mayor and candidate of the commons, Ada Colau, he admits that "always"

From the PSC, Elite Taxi points out that "the rapprochement and sensitivity that they have shown with the sector have forged something that goes further" and their intermediation with institutions -such as IMET and the Ministry of Transport- a few weeks after the CJEU issues its ruling of the preliminary question of the TSJC on the ratio 1/30.

Besides, it applauds the launch of the PICMI public app, which had been claimed since 2016; that the PSC intercede so that banking entities give moratoriums to taxi drivers due to the pandemic and they do not lose their license; the expansion of vehicle models that drivers can buy and not those that "impose" the brands; and that it give "the direct order" to the Urban Guard to carry out inspections in the VTC and that resulted in more than 8,000 complaints in 2021.

In an open letter to the sector throughout Catalonia and "especially in the AMB", the association reviews the different political formations that are contesting the elections. From Junts, they assure that Minister Damià Calvet always kept his word and promoted the Decree that established the pre-hiring of 15 minutes in 2019. Now, taxi drivers hope that Junts candidates in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) are aware of the importance of the taxi as a local public service, made up of self-employed workers and that complies with its fiscal obligations.

Esquerra Republicana, for its part, has varied its position over the last four years in relation to the taxi and platforms such as Uber, although in the end, they became a decisive actor in the protection of the taxi sector, they affirm in the letter . Esquerra facilitated the promulgation of the Catalan VTC Decree in July 2022, fulfilling its commitment.

De Comuns-Podem assure that they have consistently supported the taxi sector, showing themselves available when they have been needed and facilitating dialogue with the institutions of the City Council, the AMB and the Congress of Deputies. They remember that it was Ada Colau who initially implemented the 1-hour pre-contracting, although this measure was later annulled by the courts. Colau also faced a lawsuit from Uber due to his stalwart defense of the taxi sector.

Finally, from the CUP they point out that it has been a strong defender of taxi workers and self-employed workers, opposing the platform economy and supporting those who are exploited by this type of company.

Likewise, the letter mentions Daniel Vosseler, candidate for Barcelona ets Tú, who has been an Elite lawyer in various proceedings and shows a strong commitment to the cause of the taxi sector.

On the other hand, taxi drivers also regret that there are political parties that have sought to liberalize or dismantle the taxi sector. In this group are the PP, Ciudadanos and Vox, who have promoted the platform VTC model, arguing in favor of modernization, although it is suspected that some of its members have interests
