El Picasso, the most visited municipal museum in Barcelona, ​​with 800,000 people

The museums and municipal exhibition centers of Barcelona received a total of 3.6 million visitors in 2022, which represents "a clear recovery" compared to the pandemic years, although it is still far from the 4.8 million of the year 2019. The Museu Picasso, with 794,806 people, was the most visited, according to data provided by the Barcelona Institute of Culture (ICUB).

Next is El Born Center for Culture and Memory, with 728,800, and Montjuïc Castle, with 589,200. 616,000 people passed through the different locations of the Barcelona History Museum, and another 321,000 through those of the Natural Sciences Museum (including the Historical Botanic Garden).

The 794,806 visitors to the Museu Picasso represent a growth of 167% compared to 2021, although the million visitors registered in 2019 have not yet been reached, “an extraordinary year for the institution”. Regarding the nationality of the visitors, the North American public has represented almost 20% of the total, so that it is "the nationality that has visited the museum the most, as had already happened in 2019 (23%), and difference from the last two years” pandemics.

North American visitors are followed by Spaniards, who represent almost 15% of the total, with Barcelonans visiting the museum the most (more than 12% of the total), followed by the public of French nationality (around 9 %) and that of Italian nationality, which is also almost 9%.
