The drought allows us to do things that, under normal conditions, could not be carried out, such as having breakfast on the Querós bridge, taking advantage of the low level of the Susqueda reservoir, in the Selva region.
The landscapes are cinematic, although we have less water every day. And it allows us to access the church of the old town of Querós, documented since 1104, but it is believed that the Romanesque building was built at the end of the 11th century. And it was abandoned in 1966 due to the construction of the reservoir.
Sant Martí de Querós is a Romanesque church in the municipality of Sant Hilari Sacalm, protected as a cultural property of local interest. As a curiosity, the parish priest of this temple was Antoni Serrallonga, son of the bandit Joan de Serrallonga.
Of the town of Querós, the church and some houses located in the mountains remain standing, since the rest are under the waters of the Susqueda reservoir when the reservoir is full. But, at the moment it is at 23%, when last year it was at 48% of its capacity and the average for the last five years is 174%.
Touring the surroundings of the Susqueda swamp today is a confirmation that, despite the rains, the water does not reach the swamps. It's a shame, but at the same time it's beautiful to be able to visit areas that are normally flooded and discover the new landscape.
