Dismantled a recidivist clan for introducing 100,000 false euros in small businesses

In a joint operation, the Mossos d'Esquadra and the National Police have arrested four people for counterfeiting 10, 20 and 50 euro bills. They are part of a family clan, which was already investigated in 2018 for similar events. In fact, some of those arrested five years ago are still in jail. This time, they managed to introduce false 100,000 euros into the circuit through establishments on the Catalan coast.

The investigation began in January 2023, when a large number of counterfeit banknotes with the same counterfeit pattern were detected. The family clan incorporated them through different small businesses, especially in the provinces of Tarragona and Barcelona, always in small numbers.

They took advantage of the fact that these establishments did not have counterfeit detection systems. Thus, they obtained approximate benefits of 100,000 euros, the Mossos d'Esquadra have assured this Saturday in a statement.

On March 30, the agents made three entries into premises in the Eixample district of Barcelona and in Badalona. In this second city they found a counterfeit bill printing laboratory.

Those arrested, three men and a woman between the ages of 18 and 51, went to court. Court number 4 of Badalona ordered the entry into prison for two of them, while the other two were released with charges. Among those arrested were the printer and distributors.
