Diacre, French soccer coach, dismissed for her conflicts with the players

Corinne Diacre, the France coach, has been dismissed after several team players resigned from the team five months after the start of the World Cup due to disagreements with her. Diacre, who had a contract until 2024, declared a few days ago that she was not willing to resign from her, and that her accusations against her responded to "a personal reckoning."

The coach, who has led the French team since 2017, has been on the fence since the captain, Wendie Renard, withdrew from the team in disagreement with her work, a path followed by two other important players, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Kadidiatou Diani .

The interim president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Philippe Diallo, had commissioned a report on the situation of the women's team whose conclusions have brought to light "irreversible dysfunctions". "In view of these elements, it has been decided to put an end to Corinne Diacre's mission as head of the women's team," the FFF said in a statement.

Diacre took over after France lost in the quarter-finals of the Euros and has since managed to guide the team to the semi-finals of the 2022 edition, the team's greatest achievement in continental competition. Now, a commission will be in charge of finding a replacement with an eye on the appointment in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and August 20.

The demands of the French soccer players are part of a long list of protests that the players of various teams have turned against their respective federations in recent months. One of those protest movements is the one led by 15 of the players of the Spanish team since last September.

Precisely Alexia Putellas, recently chosen as the best player in the world for the second time in a row, spoke about the national team conflict and the protest movement that is taking place in women's football in an interview with beIN Sports France.

"To begin with, the rebels... we are players and leaders on this issue. I don't think we have to go into adjectives of this type to try to resolve a situation in which, really, there is information, but the real information is ours, from private conversations and I hope it stays there, because we have already seen that, if not, it can become a topic that does not benefit anyone," he declared.

"We have just seen the players from Canada, from Colombia, from the USA... It is a theme that is being repeated a lot. The players cannot focus their total energy on simply performing, but they have to be aware of other things or improvements. The player, thus, cannot be 100% focused or have her energy to perform, and that is what has to stop happening. It is exhausting to have to constantly be demanding improvements to be able to perform better", added the soccer player from Mollet del Vallès.
