Desolate landscape with Montserrat in the background

It has been almost a year and a half since the terrible forest fire occurred in the Pont de Vilomara. In this photographic and video report in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos we can see that the vegetation has not regenerated at all.

The entire natural environment still has an aspect of desertification. Plus, the drought doesn't help. And when it rained, unfortunately, many liters fell in a short time and this further eroded the land.

In July of last year, the flames burned more than 1,750 hectares in a fire that forced the evacuation of nearly 200 residents. Tragedy hit Bages again with another large forest fire.

The flames even burned about 450 hectares within the natural park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac.

As can be seen in the images, although the first green shoots began shortly after the fire, the prolonged period of drought that followed has slowed the recovery of the forests.
