Desa opens a center in Valls and plans to grow with purchases

The Desa company, manufacturer and distributor of fastening systems for the industrial, construction and agricultural sectors, opens a new stage after completing the merger with the Simes company and expanding its logistics center in Valls, in which it has invested three million euros. The new warehouses, of 10,600 square meters, are inaugurated today coinciding with the 65th anniversary of the firm and will support the growth plan drawn up by the group.

"The integration with Simes has already concluded and we feel strong to grow, we are ready", says Josep Maria Vidal, CEO of the Barcelona-based company. An objective that is based on the evolution of the business in the last year, with record sales and profits. Desa has closed the 2021 financial year with a turnover of 48.1 million euros, 21% more than the previous year, and a profit of 3.8 million euros, more than four times higher than the 906,000 euros of 2020. Its earnings per share - listed on the BME - grew by 313% in 2021, going from 0.51 euros per share in 2020 to 2.11 euros in 2021. The Shareholders' Meeting is expected to approve the accounts this Monday, as well as the segregation of real estate assets into a subsidiary controlled 100% by the company itself.

Several factors explain the strong growth in sales last year. To begin with, the company has benefited from the production and logistics crisis in Asia. The difficulties in supplying themselves in the East have increased their client portfolio and have allowed them to increase exports, which already account for 30% of income. "In addition, we have improved profitability, since the factory we have in Navarra has worked at full capacity," adds Vidal.

With the new logistics center in Valls they will be able to multiply the management of orders, with a capacity of 500,000 lines per year. The strategic plan from now on contemplates not only organic growth, with an increase in production and customers. Desa is also open to acquisitions. "Listing on the stock exchange facilitates a possible corporate operation," Vidal points out.

The company has two subsidiaries, one in Portugal and the other in France. In the latter, growth possibilities are relevant. "Until now it had been a bit on the sidelines and we have a good opportunity to promote it," says Vidal. The investment in I D i will complete the new stage that the company opens from now on.
