David Bote opts for re-election as mayor of Mataró

The current mayor of Mataró (Maresme), the socialist David Bote, was appointed by the assembly of militants as mayoral candidate for the next municipal elections in 2023. "We are solvent, we are credible and I want to be mayor again fighting for equality and justice with you," he told his supporters.

The assembly of the local group of the PSC in Mataró again chose David Bote to lead the electoral list, being the only candidate who presented himself and therefore is running for re-election. After a previous process of primaries, the assembly ratified Bote with 124 endorsements.

The current mayor of Mataró defined his party, the PSC, as "the strength of the people" and defended the drive it has shown in the transformation of the city, confident of being able to continue printing changes.

David Bote Paz, 40, has been the mayor of Mataró since 2015, in whose elections he obtained six councilors out of the 27 that the Mataró council has. Being the list with the most votes, he agreed to the mayor's office and formed a government with CiU until 2017, at which time the PSC was left in the minority after the departure of CiU from the municipal government as a result of the events of October 1. In the 2019 municipal elections, he revalidated his victory, obtaining 13 councilors and agreed with the two councilors of En Comú Podem.
