Daunte Wright's Mother says she'Needs 100% Liability' in Aftermath of officer's arrest

The officer who took Wright made her initial court appearance Thursday.

The mum of Daunte Wright, the 20-year-old Black guy shot dead with a Minnesota police officer in a traffic stop, '' she"needs 100% liability" in the aftermath of the officer's arrest.

"If that happens, we are going to spoil our son," Wright's mom, Katie Wright, said in a Thursday news conference. "We're never going to have the ability to see our baby boy"

"I've anger, hatred, despair," Katie Wright told ABC News Thursday. "You've got so many feelings"

Daunte Wright was captured by Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter on Sunday if the veteran officer allegedly snatched her gun to get a Taser, in accordance with this former police chief.

"My son was a fantastic young man," his dad, Aubrey Wright, stated in the news conference. "We had been constructing up my son to be someone."

"How he had been murdered, he didn't deserve this," he explained.

"It is very hard for this family to take that this can be an accident whenever you've got a veteran [Potter] who's been on the police force for 26 decades," Ben Crump, a lawyer representing the Wright household, said in the news conference.

"It had been over-policing. "Because we've got a propensity in America into over-police marginalized minorities -- particularly Black men."

He continued,"Why not deescalate whenever there's a lot of Black men and women that are unarmed?"

The shooting Sunday afternoon, following Potter and also an officer she had been coaching pulled Daunte Wright around for an expired registration label on his vehicle, and then decided during the halt he had an outstanding gross misdemeanor warrant, then-Brooklyn Center Police Chief Tim Gannon said Tuesday.

When the officers attempted to shoot Daunte Wright to custody, he got into the vehicle, authorities said.

Potter pointed her handgun in Daunte Wright,"stating again that she'd tase him" prosecutors said in a statement Wednesday.

After shooting, Potter stated,"S, I simply shot him!" In accordance with prosecutors.

"Y'all see the gap," Daunte Wright's aunt, Naisha Wright, stated in the household news conference, holding pictures of their taser and the gun near each other.

"My nephew was murdered with this: a Glock," she explained.

"All we request is, please... enable us to go ahead and get a thing done, a certainty," she explained.

Potter made her initial appearance in court Thursday afternoon. She's set to come back to court on May 17.
