Culture grants 3.6 million euros for the distribution of films

The Ministry of Culture and Sports has decided to grant aid worth 3.6 million euros to the distribution of community and Ibero-American films for 2022. A measure of which 30 independent Spanish distributors have benefited.

The aid contributes to financing the distribution costs of the films, such as advertising and promotion costs, the printing of copies, subtitling and dubbing, or anti-piracy measures, among others.

In total, 97 grants from the Cinematography Protection Fund have been granted to titles such as The Mole Agent, Another Round or El olvido que seremos, from the distributor Bteam Pictures; New Order by A Contracorriente Films; Liberty of Avalon Audiovisual Distribution; Life was that distributed by Elamedia; Annette of Elastica Films; or Titane, from Caramel Films.

The amount of the aid, for films released in the last quarter of 2020 or in 2021, does not exceed 50 percent of the eligible expenses and the maximum amount per film is 150,000 euros.

In consideration of the exceptional difficulties for public attendance at movie theaters during this period, in this call the scoring thresholds have been lowered for this aspect and the minimum territorial scope of twelve provinces and three autonomous communities has been maintained, according to explains the Ministry of Culture and Sport in a statement.

Likewise, for the first time, the films presented had to include universal accessibility measures (audio description and special subtitling) in order to be eligible for aid.
