The Ministry of Culture and Sports has advanced that, since the application period for the Young Cultural Bonus ended on October 31, a total of 99,371 operations have been carried out in affiliated establishments in Spain (as of December 18, 2022), which represents a total investment of 3.6 million euros in the sector.
According to data from the ministry, December has been the month in which the greatest number of operations has been registered. From December 1 to 18, 55,577 purchases or acquisitions were made with the Young Cultural Bonus for a value of almost two million euros.
Since it was launched, the Ministry of Culture and Sports has been collecting and analyzing the data on the use of the Young Cultural Bonus, which will make it possible to discover the cultural habits and interests of young people in Spain.
Until now, purchases in specialized stores have been distributed, mainly, between movies, video games, shows and books. As of December 18, there were 2,115 adhered companies (some with multiple establishments in Spanish territory). This translates into 3,114 points of sale available, to which are added another 743 applications currently in process. The term of adhesion of companies remains open.
The Youth Cultural Voucher works with a prepaid card issued by the Post Office and that the beneficiary can have virtually on his mobile or receive physically at his home. From the granting of the aid, young people have one year to use the 400 euros in cultural products or services.
With this card you have an investment that includes 100 euros for physical products, for example, books, newspapers or records; 100 euros for digital products, such as digital press, podcasts or online video games and 200 euros for performing arts: theater, opera, cinema, dance or museums.
The Youth Cultural Bonus is consolidated in the 2023 General State Budget with an appropriated item of 210 million euros. The Ministry of Culture and Sport is already working on the second call for the initiative, specifically, preparing the Royal Decree that will regulate its implementation.
