Cristina Fernández reappears for the first time among massive shows of support

The Argentine vice president, Cristina Fernández, left her home in Buenos Aires this Friday, in front of which she suffered an attack yesterday, without making a statement but dedicating a few moments to greet her followers.

This is the first image of the Argentine vice president after the attack she suffered on Thursday night, when a man pointed a gun at her face, when she was surrounded by Kirchnerist supporters who, since August 22, have been gathered together to the home of the former president (2007-2015).

Cristina Fernández came out dressed in comfortable clothes and excitedly greeted her followers before getting into a black vehicle with her bodyguards.

The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, who condemned the serious incident and decreed this Friday as a non-working day, had previously visited the vice president for about 50 minutes in her apartment, in the capital's Recoleta neighborhood.

Thousands of demonstrators began to mobilize that same Friday in Buenos Aires and in other cities of Argentina to express their condemnation of the attack suffered on Thursday night by the country's vice president, Cristina Fernández.

Social, union and political organizations related to the ruling party and citizens marched through various sectors of the capital to gather towards the afternoon in the Plaza de Mayo, in front of the Casa Rosada, headquarters of the Argentine Executive.

The demonstration seeks to publicly repudiate the attack suffered on Thursday night by the vice president, when a man of Brazilian nationality approached her, pointed a gun at her and fired twice.

Demonstrations in solidarity with the vice president are also replicated in other cities in Argentina.

The attack on Cristina Fernández occurred in a context of strong political tension between the ruling party and the opposition, which has grown since on Monday of last week a prosecutor requested a 12-year prison sentence for the vice president in the framework of the trial hearing to which she is subjected for alleged irregularities in the concession of public works during her Government.

The detainee for attacking the vice president is a 35-year-old man of Brazilian nationality who does not have a criminal record in his country of origin, while the weapon seized from the suspect is an automatic 32-caliber Bersa, which, at its base, has a number partial 250, suitable for firing, according to the Ministry of Security.
