Compromís calls the PSPV "disloyal" and accuses it of diverting health money to the "bulls in the street"

In the long and tedious vote on the amendments to the Accompanying Law, no surprises were foreseen. The PSPV relied on the opposition to advance the Inheritance Tax bonus for family businesses and the agreement between the progressive forces on renewables was limited to the creation of the Valencian Energy Agency. However, the Socialists have surprised their partners by supporting an amendment by the PP and Ciudadanos to facilitate the coverage and celebration of the bous al carrer.

The opposition proposal included that "when it comes to traditional bullfighting in the Valencian Community (Bous al Carrer) the public health system will take care of the uninsured amount."

A vote that has angered the spokesperson for Compromís in Les Corts, Papi Robles, who accused the majority party in the Botànic of "diverting money from the Valencian Health Department to pay for bous al carrer." The leader of Compromís has described on twitter a "total disloyalty with the Botànic agreement", and has defended that the money from health should go "to improve waiting lists and hire more staff".

Also on networks, the leader of Unides Podem, Pilar Lima, had wondered if the Socialists would vote "in favor of two amendments by the PP and Cs so that public health for all covers those who risk their lives and mistreat animals without insurance." . Lima pointed out that the rupture of the agreements "is already being the last straw."

For their part, the Socialists have denied the biggest: "In no case is the Health budget being removed. We have not reduced a single euro from the Health budget." PSPV sources explain that the agreement establishes that "in the case of those accidents that exceed the insured amount (€15,000) it will be the Valencian health system that will take charge". However, the same sources indicate that "this will only apply in minimal cases, since the amount of 15,000 euros that has been proposed covers the vast majority of events."

In this regard, the socialist deputy and mayoress of Sant Mateu, Ana Besalduch, has argued, who has recalled that in her municipality bullfights are held three times a year and the expense has never exceeded that amount

The vote, they point out from the PSPV, has been fully conscious with the aim of "guaranteeing that those municipalities where the bous al carrer celebration is rooted can continue to be held with the maximum legal guarantee." Finally, they have reiterated that the Socialists have not broken any agreement because the Botànic pact does not speak of this tradition.

It is the second time in just a week that the left-wing parties are divided over the animal issue. A few days ago the protection of hunting dogs was a reason for division in the Valencian left during the parliamentary process of the Animal Welfare Law.

This last year, an important debate has been opened in the Valencian Community due to the increase in deaths in this type of festivities -reaching a sad historical record- which, in turn, has caused problems for the organizers since some insurance companies The demands have risen when it comes to covering these celebrations.
