Colau confirms that there will be a Barça parade if he wins the Champions League

The mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau announced this Wednesday that there will be a parade for Jonatan Giráldez's Barça if they win the Champions League final this Saturday in Turin against Olympique de Lyon. “On Sunday there will be a parade because they deserve it. I got engaged to them a year ago when I received them to celebrate the treble. I told them they deserved it”, confirmed Colau in an interview with Jordi Basté on Rac1.

The mayor, who will travel to Turin to watch the match live, has reiterated the city's commitment to a club that "is breaking all barriers" and that "are role models for many girls who now see sport as a place of their own" . “Apart from the pride it represents for us, as a city we have to promote it. In addition, there has never been a parade for a women's team, it is about time there was one”, Colau insisted.

The intention is that the parade will be held on Sunday afternoon, upon the arrival of the Turin team and the route is still being closed with Barça, but according to Esport3, it could leave the Paseo de Colom and end up in the Plaza Sant Jaume to visit Barcelona City Hall and the Palau de la Generalitat. And it will not be the only municipal initiative, since the council plans to install a giant screen to follow the grand final on Saturday (7:00 p.m.). Although he did not want to confirm the location, he did acknowledge that Plaza Catalunya is one of the places that are being considered.

Also the City Council of Mollet del Vallès, where the Golden Ball Alexia Putellas is from, has announced that it will install a screen in collaboration with the local Barcelona supporters. It will be located on the outer track of the Riera Seca municipal pavilion.

Barça estimates that between 10 and 15 fans will witness the final against Olympique de Lyon live at the Juventus Stadium in Turin. Thus, the current champion, who last year due to the pandemic had to lift the cup in a desert Gamla Ullevi from Göteborg, will be able to vibrate again from the warmth of his fans in the complicated defense of the title.
