City and Haaland further sink a Sevilla that is still in free fall

Football is unpredictable, but up to a certain point. Depressed and overwhelmed by the poor results, Sevilla lost (0-4) in the Champions League debut against the almighty Manchester City at the Sánchez Pizjuán. The outcome ignited the stands even more, which in the last minutes called for the resignation of the president, José Castro, and after the end he dedicated a resounding whistle to the team.

Lopetegui, whose future on the bench is increasingly dark, put up an experimental eleven without forwards and full of midfielders, where Isco was the most offensive player. With those wickers, the skyblue tide cornered an impotent sevillista team that was chasing shadows in its area.

In that scenario, Foden easily combined with De Bruyne on the right and the Belgian crossed into the box to finish off the Haaland net. Sevilla's threat was so non-existent that even the English slowed down, very comfortable. A high shot from Papu Gómez, after a wall with Delaney, was the only dangerous approach in the first half.

After the break, he changed the script with the entry of two strikers, first Mir and then Dolberg. The Andalusians went up and, far from testing Ederson, they saw how Bono's work multiplied. The Moroccan saved a one-on-one with De Bruyne, but he could not do anything before a shot from the edge of Foden, who previously drove Gudelj crazy, and he also did not stop a Haaland who scored at will after a shot rebound by the goalkeeper of Foden.

It was the Norwegian's sixth goal against Seville, who had already scored another four with Dortmund in the round of 16 two years ago. With the striker replaced, Dias scored the fourth in stoppage time and gave the finishing touch to a Sevilla victim first of their fears and then of the harsh reality of him, weak in defense and harmless in attack.
