Citizens request a commission of investigation in Congress on the Mediator case

The political spokesperson for Ciudadanos, Patricia Guasp, has announced this Monday, after the meeting of the party's permanent committee, that her party will ask the Congress of Deputies for an investigation commission into the alleged case of corruption, also related to prostitution, starring a former PSOE deputy from the Canary Islands.

"Corruption cannot stop penalizing our country", exclaimed Guasp, who was very "outraged" at the latest of the "scandals that fill the media", which is added, he recalled, to that of the Kitchen plot, which affects the PP. "While some fill their pockets, there are no doctors, no funding for more teachers. The virus of corruption continues to run through the veins of the PP and the PSOE," criticized the liberal leader.

The movements of the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior in the stage of Jorge Fernández Díaz to spy on Luis Bárcenas, former treasurer of the PP, are for Ciudadanos a "shame", since they were aimed at hiding an "illegal financing" plot of the conservative party , while the Mediator case, in which the former PSOE deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes is involved, has earned Guasp the qualifications of "disgusting and disgusting", for which he has demanded that "each and every one of the deputies who are in that plot" by a specific commission.

The Ciudadanos spokesperson recalled that there are deputies who have allegedly "taken advantage of this condition" to "benefit" and pointed out that, if so, the case would also be a case of "prevarication", for which reason she has pointed out to the the president of the Congress, Meritxell Batet, as responsible and has requested the application of article 17 of the regulations of the Lower House, which establishes that "deputies may not invoke or make use of their status as parliamentarians for the exercise of commercial, industrial or professional".

Ciudadanos asks, therefore, that the Bureau open a disciplinary file on the deputies involved and an investigation, which can end "even with the status of deputies for these charges," Guasp said. In the same way, Ciudadanos will demand in the Canarian Parliament an investigation commission similar to the one that it will promote in the Congress of Deputies.

Regarding Vox's motion of no confidence, Guasp has baptized it as "shock" and has reiterated that it is "useless", because "it does not solve any of the problems of health, education, the privileges of nationalism or families that They don't make it to the end of the month." For this reason, it will only be "useful", in his opinion, for the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, who will transform it, according to the Ciudadanos spokesperson, into an "electoral confrontation" and "will use it as propaganda" for the May elections. . "We cannot turn Congress into a set, into a stage," Guasp concluded.
