Cinderella exists: a young woman 'loses' her shoe at the party of Prince Christian of Denmark

Prince Christian is already 18 years old. The heir to the throne of the Royal House of Denmark celebrated his coming of age this past Sunday surrounded by his family, friends and exceptional guests at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. A party in style, with a long list of attendees, among which some monarchs from northern Europe. However, only one person starred in an anecdote worthy of Cinderella.

The official Instagram account of the Nordic monarchy published a photograph of a solitary high-heeled shoe on the stairs of the royal palace. According to the complementary text, someone had lost it during the celebration of the prince's birthday and invited anyone who missed it to recover it. The situation is vaguely reminiscent of the classic fairy tale that Disney adapted in 1950, becoming one of the most remembered animated films in history.

“Could it be Cinderella who forgot her shoe last night? When the guests at Her Majesty The Queen's gala dinner went home yesterday, this solitary stiletto shoe was left behind at Christiansborg Castle. The owner can contact us to recover it,” the publication indicated. The image had nearly 100,000 likes on Instagram since it appeared on the profile, generating great expectations among his followers.

However, the story ended sooner than expected. TV2, a Danish pay channel, investigated the case and ended up finding the owner of the shoe. After reviewing the images of the reception, analyzing each guest, they ended up finding a young woman named Anne-Sofie Tørnsø. Even more surprising was the confession of the person involved, who acknowledged having carried out this action on purpose, even though she had to try twice.

In the first instance, the play went wrong. Shortly after leaving the shoe abandoned at Christiansborg Palace, a person took it upon himself to return it to him immediately, ruining his plan. It was a second attempt that was officially successful, generating excitement in Denmark and the rest of Europe. In words to TV2, Anne-Sofie confessed that she wanted to attract the attention of the Danish Royal House and generate some laughter.

Beyond this surprising anecdote, Prince Christian's party had a positive note: the attendance of Princess Mette-Marit of Norway. Together with her husband, Crown Prince Hakoon, they were both able to take part in the celebrations. A note that alleviates the concern generated around his figure in recent weeks, all due to the chronic pulmonary fibrosis that he has suffered since 2018.
