Cesc Fàbregas signs for Como, of the Italian second division

Cesc Fábregas will play next season in the Italian second division with the colors of Como, as announced on Monday by Serie B on its website. The 35-year-old Catalan midfielder had finished his contract with Monaco, where he had played the last four seasons, the last one with hardly any participation.

Before the announcement, the Series B website already included the Arenys contract in its section listing the new certified contracts. The former Barça, Arsenal and Chelsea player, in addition to being world champion with Spain in 2010, played his last in September with the Principality team, with whom he only played five games the previous year.

"On an individual level it ends badly, that's for sure. Every professional wants to play and feel important," the Spaniard, who claimed to have experienced the "worst" of his long career in his last season at Monaco, told AFP in May. "I still want to play. I don't want to end like this. The year has been too bad to end like this," he wished.

"I want to have fun, end up with a good feeling," he stressed, wanting to be part of a team that still believes in his qualities. He had sounded strong to reinforce Las Palmas in the Spanish second division, but finally the modest team located in the north of Italy, very close to the border with Switzerland, has won his services.

According to the Italian press, Como has offered the experienced midfielder a two-year contract. The club finished last season 13th in the Serie B championship. The transalpine team begins its season on Saturday with a dispute in the first round of the Italian Cup against La Spezia, from Serie A.
