Carlos Franganillo will replace Pedro Piqueras at the head of 'Informativos Telecinco'

Carlos Franganillo will be Mediaset's new information reference. The journalist, one of the best-known faces of RTVE, will become the new presenter of the prime time edition of Informativos Telecinco in January, replacing Pedro Piqueras, who at the end of the year will retire from the small screen by "his own decision." , communicated and consensual".

In a statement, the group assures that with the incorporation of Franganillo "it takes another step in the process of restructuring its news area."

"Franganillo is one of the most outstanding communicators of television information in our country due to his balanced combination of closeness and rigor, his professional versatility and his unique and didactic style to narrate current events," they argue.

The arrival of the RTVE journalist is promoted by the new director of News at Mediaset España, Francisco Moreno, with the direct collaboration of Pedro Piqueras, whom he will replace as head of prime time at Informativos Telecinco.

Franganillo arrives at Telecinco to replace Pedro Piqueras, who is retiring from the small screen after spending the last 17 years at Mediaset España, a decision "own, communicated and agreed" with the communication group, as explained in his note.

"Piqueras, one of the most recognized and beloved journalists in our country, will end his brilliant professional career after spending the last 17 years at Mediaset España, where he leaves a successful career at the head of its news, an unforgettable memory and an indelible mark ", continues the Italian company.

With the signing of Franganillo by Mediaset, RTVE loses one of its informative references that has been gaining weight within public television in recent years. In July 2014, he became the TVE correspondent in Washington D.C. replacing Lorenzo Milá. Four years later, he returns to Spain to present the second edition of the Telediario.

Since then, he has also been in charge of informative specials at various national and international electoral events. In addition, the Asturian has been honored with important awards such as an Ondas Award, an Iris Award from the TV Academy and the International Press Club Award for best correspondent, among others.
