Cards with 'cashback': how to take advantage of the coming barrage of sales

November kicks off the Christmas shopping campaign. Shops, especially online, make Black Friday a month full of discounts, giving opportunities to squeeze the best prices. What some consumers don't know is that their credit cards could bring them extra offers. The experts at the financial comparator HelpMyCash.com explain in detail how to take advantage of them.

First of all, they remember that really saving should now be everyone's mantra given the context of maximum uncertainty. However, it is normal that in times of discounts you end up spending and, even more so, when one of the most anticipated festivities, Christmas, approaches. The key is to find balance. The experts of the financial comparator advise "adhering to the budget and not spending beyond your own possibilities".

Although the ideal is to face these expenses with the money you have in your checking account, it is possible that credit cards are used as a payment method. From HelpMyCash they recommend avoiding deferred payment and bet on the settlement of expenses at the end of the month.

In this line, some cards return part of the amount of purchases, so that their holders live in a kind of permanent discounts and save every time they buy. If the offers of the shops are added to this, the use of cards with cashback becomes very interesting.

With them, in addition to being able to pay the amount of the purchases, the holder returns a percentage of the money spent. The comparator experts point out that the bonus on the amount of purchases usually ranges between 1% and 5%.

In any case, they warn that "it is not always applied to all payments, sometimes only to those purchases that have been paid in installments or those that have been made in certain establishments." Therefore, the conditions must be carefully reviewed.

All cards have a maximum limit for the return of purchases. The usual thing is that it is applied monthly or annually and once the quota has been reached, the client cannot continue to benefit from the discounts. There are also banks that offer cards that return the money for purchases made for a year, but after that time that feature disappears.

Others maintain the advantage after the year, but reduce the percentage returned (from 5% to 3%, for example). Likewise, there is usually a list of the businesses attached to the promotion that should be consulted.

Given the wide catalog that exists on the market, HelpMyCash experts have selected three ideal cashback cards to get the most out of them during the new sales season.

The first of these is the WiZink Click card. All credit cards of this entity are part of its Cashback program called WiZink Extra. The holders of the same receive money for purchases made in the different participating stores, among which are Glovo, Dia Supermarkets, Lush, Privalia, Camper, Singularu, Cooltra or PC Components. From the financial comparator they have selected the Click card because it also has an interesting offer right now: by spending at least 300 euros during the first three months, you get two direct round-trip flights for two people on more than 2,500 routes.

Another of those selected is the ING credit card. Refunds 3% at Galp and Shell gas stations with no amount limit just for paying with it. But, in addition, its Shopping Naranja program offers another multitude of returns. When buying trips through Europe with Easy Jet, it discounts 3% of the price and in hotel reservations through Hotelopia, it returns 13%. At Starbucks there is a 10% discount on all purchases and the same percentage applies at Springfield or Women's Secret.

The Abanca Tú Visa credit card has also been chosen. It offers discounts of 4% at Galp Energía gas stations with a maximum of 600 euros per month. It is especially interesting for those who travel a lot by road. Although they recognize that it does not have the advantages of the previous two, they have decided to include it in their list because, beyond the discounts, it is the one that offers the best interest.

In fact, its price is the most competitive in the entire market, with a nominal interest rate of 12.85% and an equivalent annual rate of 13.75%. The average is over 18%, according to data from the Bank of Spain.
