Can I open a free account at BBVA, CaixaBank and Santander without payroll?

Many do not collect payroll. At the end of the first quarter there were more than three million unemployed in our country. And they also need a bank account. The problem is that without a payroll, the maintenance of an account tends to skyrocket.

However, despite the belief that most banks charge commissions to customers who do not receive a payroll each month, there is a wide range of accounts for customers with no income. And not only without income, but also for those who receive a salary every month in an entity, but want to open a second account without payroll in another bank to pay bills, share expenses with their partner, save...

You can even open an account without payroll and without commissions in the three main entities in Spain (BBVA, CaixaBank and Santander), explain the experts of the financial product comparator HelpMyCash.com, who have analyzed which are the best banks without commissions our country.

In fact, BBVA's flagship product for attracting new customers is a day-to-day checking account with no maintenance fees and no connection requirements, with which it has already managed to convince more than a million users.

The BBVA Online Account does not charge commissions and to sign up for it you do not need to domicile a salary or receipts, you just need to be a new customer and open it online. It allows free transfers in euros, send money through Bizum, pay by mobile and withdraw money at more than 4,500 ATMs. It can be opened alone or with two cardholders and each will receive a free debit card.

In addition, BBVA now reimburses its customers for their subscription to Netflix, HBO Max, PlayStation Plus, Disney Plus, Spotify or DAZN for six months (maximum bonus of 9.99 euros per month). The promotion has no permanence and is valid until June 30.

Banco Santander has also launched an account without commissions or conditions for new clients. The Online Account includes a debit card with no annual fees and its main advantage is that it can be used to withdraw money for free at all of the bank's ATMs around the world.

CaixaBank's free proposal is articulated through its mobile banking, Imagin. A platform that not only offers an account and cards without commissions and without mandatory linking, but also discounts on purchases. Imagin has managed to capture, since its launch in 2016, 3.7 million users. One of its main advantages is that it allows you to withdraw money for free at all ATMs in the eurozone located outside of Spain. Of course, the imagin account can only be managed through an app.

The offer of accounts without commissions and without payroll has been extended to most banks. The last to release one has been Sabadell. Although the great promoters of these products have been, for many years, the online banks, which have made them the center of their commercial offer, they point out from HelpMyCash.

One example is Openbank's Open Current Account, which not only has no fees or conditions, but now the first 2,000 new customers who sign up for it before May 31 will receive a net 40 euro gift. You just have to enter the promotional code MAY22 during the registration process and make a deposit of at least 300 euros. The promotion does not have permanence, you just have to keep the money until the entity delivers the incentive (July 15 at the latest).

Openbank does not charge commissions for the debit card of the first holder and allows you to withdraw money at more than 7,000 ATMs in Spain for free.

EVO Banco, N26, Revolut and Abanca also market commission-free accounts in which it is not mandatory to directly deposit a salary.
