Calviño disconnects a foundation that he presides over from the Mediator case and the imprisoned general

The first vice president of the Government, Nadia Calviño, has separated this Wednesday the Fiiapp foundation, of which she is president, from the alleged corruption plot known as the Mediator case led by the former PSOE deputy from the Canary Islands, Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo, known as ' Tito Berni', and the General of the Civil Guard who was in charge of the GARSI-Sahel project, Francisco Espinosa Navas, imprisoned for the case.

"I am the president of the Fiiapp Foundation and an internal investigation has been commissioned, of course, but from the information I have there is absolutely no type of relationship and there is not even an overlap from the point of view given the time that has made me coincide with any of these people", he said in statements to laSexta.

In the summary of the Mediator case, it is stated that the judge in charge of the investigation accepted, at the request of the Internal Affairs Service of the Civil Guard, that the public contracts managed by the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Public Administrations and Policies (Fiiapp) be required ) related to the European project GARSI-Sahel for the training of gendarmes.

"It seems totally absurd to establish a link," Calviño added when asked about the possible relationship between those investigated in the Mediator case and this Spanish public foundation that manages international cooperation projects. In addition, she has said that she is willing to appear in Congress to "share any information" that she may have.

"I will appear when appropriate and I believe that all the explanations are being given in this regard," Calviño emphasized, adding that the Government led by Pedro Sánchez shows "zero tolerance for corruption, as demonstrated by decisive action every time there is any type of suspicion or any risk in this regard".

For her part, the Government spokesperson and Minister of Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez, urged the Popular Party (PP) to show the "same spirit" that it is showing with the Mediator case with the corruption cases that are "current today" in its formation and with which the popular leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, "shares militancy, seat and tablecloth."

This was indicated by Rodríguez in statements to the media from Barcelona, in relation to the PP's proposal to create an investigation commission in the Congress of Deputies on the 'Mediator case', because “'tito Berni' is getting nephews-in-law of his party" in what is "a major scandal that embarrasses the entire Spanish society."

Rodríguez recalled that Feijóo came to the leadership of the PP in the "dilemma" of "regeneration or corruption" and "stayed in corruption." In addition, he deplored that those who today register a commission of inquiry are the same "who shared a tablecloth with an accused" the day before yesterday, with "the president of the Ibiza Council".
