Businesswomen, insurance brokers or journalists: the economy makes women visible

In the Feria Valencia pavilion where Forinvest has been held since yesterday, there is a stand of the University of Valencia where its Faculty of Economics and the different studies that can be studied are presented. Students come to validate their attendance and are also interested in the training that is given in their classrooms on the Tarongers Campus where, they explain, there are more and more women. "They are the majority in the classes, of course. Within 10 or 15 years we will see a great change outside," they point out.

At the moment, in the corridors and stands of the fair, the female presence is a minority, but there is an intention to change that. The Forinvest organizing committee awarded its three main prizes this year to women in an exercise convinced that they must be given visibility, since they already work intensely without often being seen or recognized enough.

Thus, on Tuesday night, he awarded the most innovative business careers with a clear female role, with the Award for professional career in the business sector to Carmen Serrano; the one for professional career in the insurance sector for Ana Muñoz and the one for professional career in entrepreneurship and innovation for Ana Isabel Gil.

The latter, executive director of Sesame and Zeus, values this triple recognition of women as "a normalization of the society in which we live, in which more and more women are leading projects and undertakings and these recognitions help us to continue growing" .

Its president, the Minister of Finance, Arcadi Spain, said at the awards ceremony that this 16th edition of Forinvest should be "the edition of equality" and thanked the effort of both the organizers and the sponsors "to guarantee that their voice historically masculinized sectors, but of which women have always been an essential part, make themselves heard and participate actively".

Yesterday Spain attended the inauguration and stayed to listen to the economic journalists who recounted their experience in a traditionally masculinized sphere of journalism. The table "Economic journalism from the perspective of specialized journalism" brought together only women, as did the table "The future of the technology industry in Spain", both moderated by women, the journalist Ana Durán and the president of WomenCEO and founder of Fiverooms, Ana Lamas, respectively.

Also in the International Insurance Forum there was recognition of 8M, since the third Women Insurers meeting was held. Business Leadership, where Sonia Calzada Maroto was recognized for her professional work in favor of mediation; Esther Ruiz Alcalde, for her work as a director of the insurance sector, and Dolores Antón Blanquer, for her professional career as an insurance mediator.

The contest has also premiered this year as a director, the second after the previous 15 years in the position of another woman, Alejandra Roda. Since January its director is María José Puigcerver, graduated in Economics from the University of Valencia and with extensive experience in marketing, internationalization, strategy and business innovation.

Also in the economic sphere, yesterday CCOO-PV presented its report on the social and labor situation of Valencian women, in whose presentation the CCOO PV Secretary for Women and Equality, Cloti Iborra, pointed out that one of the main tools to combat gender gaps They are equality plans.

The employers explained that from 2011 to 2022 the number of companies in the Valencian Community with equality plans has gone from 2 to 918, as stated in the report on the implementation of Equality Plans in companies in this Community presented yesterday by the Business Confederation of the Valencian Community (CEV).

Regarding the number of plans, the report reveals that the absence of exhaustive information on the number of companies in the Valencian Community that are obliged to implement equality plans makes it impossible to know the exact degree of implementation and that, despite the fact that the data existing ones seem to point towards a limited level of implementation, these may be the consequence of a lack of registration. In fact, the general director of Labour, Welfare and Social Security of the Valencian government, Elvira Ródenas, pointed out that 1,933 Valencian companies have requested the equality plan to be registered, despite the fact that not all of them have the obligation to have it.

The tool also motivates SMEs, as explained by Confecomerç CV, which has promoted, together with the Ministry of Sustainable Economy, a support project that helps associations and merchants, through a personalized advisory service with experts, to design and implement your own equality plan.
