Brendan Fraser reappears in the cinema with almost 300 kilos for his new movie

Brendan Fraser returns to the movies. At 53 years old, he returns as a protagonist, something he has not done since 2010, when he shared a set with Harrison Ford in Extraordinary Measures. He is now returning to the big screen at the hands of Darren Aronofsky with The Whale, a film with which he will compete for the Golden Lion at the next Venice Film Festival, which will be held from August 31 to September 10.

But, beyond the premiere in Venice, which still has no date in theaters, the news has jumped after the first images of Brendan Fraser in the film came to light. And it is that the actor plays neither more nor less than a literature professor with morbid obesity who lives secluded in his apartment.

A few years ago, the networks already smoked when the actor reappeared on the scene with a few extra kilos, as viewers were used to his sculpted physique in movies like The Mummy or George of the jungle. Now, however, this considerable weight is due to his new role, as his character weighs no more and no less than 270 kilos.

In the film, his goal will be none other than to make peace with his past and get closer to his daughter, whom he has not seen for years and who will be played by Sadie Sink, known for being Max in the Stranger Things series.

Gradually, Fraser sees his career come back on track. In addition to the aforementioned premiere, he will be the villain Firefly in the next version of Batgirl and will be part of the new Scorsese, Killer of the Flower Moon. He has also participated in No Sudden Movements, by Steven Soderbergh, and in the series Doom Patrol and Professionals.

The actor suffered various physical problems derived from action scenes that took him out of the spotlight for a while. He added that in the summer of 2003 he reported having suffered sexual abuse by Philip Berk, then president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. A fact that he denounced fifteen years later. Now, he returns to the cinematographic ring.
