Brazilian rhythms, great protagonists of the Sant Andreu Jazzing Festival

Brazil will be the protagonist of the new edition of the Sant Andreu Jazzing Festival, which will be held from tomorrow Friday until next Monday at the Fàbrica de Creació Fabra i Coats.

In the presentation this afternoon of this ninth edition, the director of the festival, Joan Chamorro, said that for years Brazilian music has had an important presence in the repertoire of the formation he directs, the Sant Andreu Jazz Band and, therefore, they have proposed to pay tribute to him.

The musician – who was accompanied by Brazilian singers Vanessa Moreno and Analu Sampaio, and guitarist Jurandir Santana – also revealed that the planned concert of the “mythical figure” of bossa nova, Rosa Passos, had to be suspended for health reasons. . For this reason, Jazzing will pay tribute to the singer next Sunday at the Sala Polivalent, in a concert by the Sant Andreu Jazz Band with guests such as Rita Payés, Carme Canela, Dmitry Baevsky, Jurandir Santana, Èlia Bastida, Joan Martí, Eduard Ferrer and Marta Rome.

Attendees this year will also be able to enjoy the performances with which the Brazilian singer, composer and instrumentalist Vanessa Moreno will debut in Spain on Saturday at the Sala Polivalent, and the 14-year-old "young revelation", Analu Sampaio, on Sunday together to the Sant Andreu Jazz Band.

On Monday 5, Jazzing will host the "daBumbus" concert, by Marta Roma and Antony da Cruz, and the Brazilian Jazz Party, where Chamorro has assured that a "Brazilian party in style" will be held, in which the artists Carme Canela , Jurandir Santana, Andrea Motis and Mirla Riomar will put an end to this edition of the festival.

Chamorro has also announced that, although in 2023 the epicenter will not be Brazil, they are always influenced by the music of the country, since its rhythm and improvisation factor "marry very well with jazz" and, therefore, they hope that Jazzing Festival 2023 can count on the participation of Rosa Passos.
