Borràs sees "out of place" interrupting a minute of silence and attributes it to a single person

The president of JxCat, Laura Borràs, one day later rejected the interruption of the minute of silence that took place yesterday during the tribute to the victims of the 17-A attacks, which was five years old yesterday, and has tried to mold his message to that of his party, which yesterday, shortly after the act, already "strongly" rejected these facts.

In separate interviews on Catalunya Ràdio and RAC1, the president of the Parliament suspended from office has avoided self-criticism and has attributed the shouts that interrupted the minute of silence to a single person, from whom she wanted to distance herself, and has asked not to criminalize the entire platform that demands truth and justice, claims that it shares.

After finishing the act, Borràs approached these demonstrators to listen and support their claims - they consider that the attacks have not been sufficiently investigated and believe that the Spanish state is behind them - and was applauded and cheered with shouts of "president, Chairwoman". A few hours later, Junts distanced himself from the protest and on his Twitter account expressed his "strongest rejection" of the interruption of the minute of silence.

"It is totally out of place to interrupt a minute of silence", the president of the suspended Parliament has settled, adding that these moments are to "respect them and that is what we do from Junts". Therefore, Borràs sees no contradiction between Junts' message and her performance, which, in her opinion, responded to the criteria of "maximum and scrupulous respect" for the victims she considered "sacred." However, yesterday, the president of Junts shared the message of the deputy Jaume Alonso Cuevillas who tried to contradict the message of her party.

And as Cuevillas did yesterday, Borràs today endorsed the general tone of the protest on platform 17-A, "families that demand to know the truth five years later" who carried banners so that they would have visibility and who saw as if they were in "front row" of the tribute were politicians who, in his words, "sponsor opacity instead of promoting truth and justice".

Nor does Borràs see a contradiction between his attitude and yesterday's message from the former general secretary of his party, Jordi Sànchez, who pointed out that "there should have been no more prominence than that of the families of the victims." "It was neither the place to break the minute of silence nor the moment to seek political prominence," he added. Questioned about this, the president of Junts has asked herself "why are they talking about me?" in an attempt to avoid all protagonism. "The protagonists were and should be the victims and the relatives of the victims," she added.

In any case, Borràs has wanted to settle the controversy by ensuring that she does not feel questioned "as a boycotter of the act" and has added that "it is not reprehensible to listen to and greet people who are with some posters demanding the truth".

On the other hand, the pro-independence leader has opened a new front with ERC by charging without mentioning her against the Republican Alba Vergés, first vice president of the Parliamentary Table acting as president after her suspension, who yesterday was not representing the Chamber, which was represented by the socialist Assumpta Escarp as second vice president. “In the first act where functions that I have been deprived of should have been attributed, not only is the act not attended, but the representation functions fall to the PSC, which is a party of 155 and a party that has vetoed commissions of investigation on 17-A", lamented Borràs to add that "it is a contradiction that whoever could have avoided it, should have avoided it", alluding to Vergés. “I have always interrupted vacations to be in this act. When talking about the dignity of Parliament, it is also demonstrated by these facts, ”she has asserted.

The leader of Junts has also referred to her suspension as a deputy by the agreement of the Parliamentary Committee of July 28 under article 25.4 of the Chamber's regulations after an oral trial was opened for misappropriation of public funds when she presided over the Institució de les Catalan letters. Borràs has once again described the decision as "political" and "unprecedented", although he has maintained that she is president "because there is no other". Thus, she has assured that she will continue to go to Parliament even if she does not have functions or salary and has wondered if someone will prohibit her from accessing her office. In any case, she has regretted that her suspension was not accompanied by a report from the lawyers that would clarify its scope.

Borràs, who has said that he felt totally accompanied by his party during this process, has also questioned the usefulness of the Government of which his party is a part in order to achieve independence, he has once again explained that Junts will have to analyze the development of the government agreement with ERC and has reiterated that the Junts militancy will decide in a consultation on the continuity of the Catalan Executive.

Borràs has avoided answering directly if he is in favor of leaving the Government but has left clear clues about his position. Thus, he has warned that it is a "very serious event" that the president of Parliament be suspended and that it be done due to "political conditions", but "the most serious thing", he has said, is that there is a government agreement "as a result of electoral results of 52% pro-independence" and that "does not produce steps towards independence but rather an adjustment to autonomy". In line with this, the leader of Junts has indicated that she is in politics to achieve the independence of Catalonia.
