Boluda buys the Dutch company Smit Lamnalco and becomes the world leader in maritime towage

Boluda Towage - the business line of the Boluda Group that focuses its activity on port, coastal and offshore towage, as well as maritime salvage, has just closed the purchase of Smit Lamnalco, a Dutch company with which it becomes the leading company world leader in the sector, with a fleet of 600 vessels and an intervention capacity in 50 countries and 148 ports around the world.

This is explained by the company in a statement detailing that the Dutch company is 50% owned by Boskalis Group and Rezayat Group, employs more than 1,600 people and owns 111 ships, a "reference" in towing services for port terminals with a global and diversified customer base in the LNG, oil tankers and bulk segments.

Although the acquisition is still subject to regulatory approvals in various countries, it allows the company to confirm its expansion throughout the world, reaching strategic markets where the company now owned by Boluda has a strong presence, such as Australia, the Middle East and West Africa.

Businessman Vicente Boluda Fos, president of Boluda Corporación Marítima, affirms that his is "a company that has never stopped growing and transforming". He adds that this new stage is "the logical consequence of previous developments that, over the last few years, have made us number 1 in port logistics services and in the towage sector."

Likewise, the president of the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs also recognizes that the sector is "at a turning point, affected by the climate emergency and geopolitical tensions." Maritime transport, at the center of these issues, faces new challenges, for which Boluda points out, "as a world leader, we are aware of our responsibilities and we will continue to be committed to sustainable development, which benefits society and its development".

For his part, Vicente Boluda Ceballos, Executive Vice President at Boluda Towage, explains that "Smit Lamnalco is a solid company with more than 55 years of operating experience, present in more than 20 countries and with more than 1,600 employees worldwide. No I have no doubt that this operation will be fruitful for both parties and especially for our clients, who will benefit from a consolidated team, a diversified offer and a greater capacity for intervention and innovation".
