BMC Global creates a business travel giant

Theirs is a union with a good destiny. The Sabadell travel agency BMC Travel has announced that from January 2023 it will integrate the Barcelona-based Transglobal into the company, with a new brand, BMC Global. Its objective: to consolidate itself as a leading Spanish agency in the business travel and corporate events sector. Under the new umbrella, it will add a turnover of more than 80 million euros and will have the entirety of both templates, with more than 120 employees. With the integration, BMC Global will have a new office in the center of Barcelona, which is added to the three current headquarters located in Sabadell, Barcelona and Madrid.

The CEOs of BMC Travel, Jordi Osuna, and of Transglobal, Octavi Viñes, are satisfied with the agreement and affirm that “both parties have placed all our trust. We share the same values: commitment, transparency, dedication to service and a well-kept staff”.

Managers point to changes in consumption habits. “Before, a travel agency was a point of sale for tickets and little else. Now, in a global world and after all the uncertainty of the pandemic, we have turned it around and offer a tailor-made suit with high added value for the client. We know it and accompany it so that the experience is unique”, says Osuna.

Before the pandemic, executives had already talked about the possible union, but the crisis postponed it until now. They recognize that “these have not been easy times”, but they predict a good economic recovery, despite the price of fuel and inflation. In 2019, BMC Travel invoiced 58 million, but “in 2020 we lost 75%; we recovered and we expect to earn 60 million in 2023”, according to Osuna. Viñes points out that Transglobal, a family company born in Barcelona in 1973, had a turnover of 20 million in 2019, but with the pandemic it dropped to four in 2020, it hopes to "close 2022 with 14 million and next year, rise to 20 million" .

Osuna highlights the offer of "innovative services, such as emergency services, available 365 days a year". In 2016, the Premium department was created, with "personalized services for senior managers and executives". BMC Travel has its own brand of leisure destinations, Promoviatges, a specialist in tailor-made and group travel.

In five decades, Transglobal has built a great reputation. The agency found its “particular niche in the market by specializing in business services and in organizing the first incentive trips in the five continents”, concludes Viñas.
