Blinken criticizes Israel for not having a plan to evacuate and protect civilians from Rafah

Yesterday, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken defended the decision to interrupt the delivery of 3,500 bombs to Israel due to fears that they would be used by its army in Rafah. Blinken noted that Israel does not have a “credible plan” to evacuate and protect the 1.4 million people crowded into this city in the southern Gaza Strip.

Speaking to ABC News, Blinken noted that the US remains committed to Israel and its defense. But he added that this may change if the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press ahead with their offensive on Rafah.

Today the Hebrew army consolidated its advance on the center of Rafah and, in parallel, increased its actions in the north of the Gaza Strip, where, according to what it explains, Hamas has regrouped. The Israeli army had stated, months ago, that the north of the Strip was free of the presence of members of the Islamist organization.
