Blanco responds to Lambán that Sánchez is aligned with the COE

The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, sees "very important and positive" movements in the last 24 hours between those responsible for mountain sports and the businessmen of the Aragonese ski resorts who want to be part of the Olympic project and has asked the Aragonese president, Javier Lambán, without explicitly citing him, to reconsider his refusal to support the proposal to organize the 2030 Winter Olympics and of which he will give details this afternoon.

Given the repeated disagreements between the Government of Aragon and the rest of the parties (Generalitat, COE and the Spanish Government) due to what Lamán considers an unbalanced distribution of the evidence, Blanco considered the negotiations broken last Monday with Aragón and will present this afternoon in Madrid a definitive technical proposal. Everything seems to indicate that this proposal will maintain some tests in Aragon. "The businessmen are moving and they don't want to give up on the Games," Blanco said in an interview on Catalunya Ràdio.

"Someone will have to reconsider and think carefully about the decisions that must be made," Blanco insisted in a clear allusion to the Aragonese president, who yesterday called for the intervention of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, to "put order" in the candidacy after recalling that it was the head of the Executive who publicly promised him in September a candidacy "on an equal footing" between Catalonia and Aragon. This same Wednesday, in an interview at Cope, Lambán confirmed that he will write to Sánchez today to ask for it.

In this regard, the president of the Olympic body has referred to the statements of the spokesperson minister, Isabel Rodríguez, who yesterday left all responsibility for the candidacy in the COE and has assured that the president "knows how the situation is and we are online without any crack."

In any case, the president of the COE has defended the work carried out so far by the technical commission, which he has described as "sensational" and has called upon to "continue working" to present a candidacy that "no one can refute" and that, in his opinion, opinion, "it would be more powerful in both parts of the Pyrenees than anchored in a single part". In this sense, he has pointed out that the technical proposal includes "very important and internationally recognized" tests that can be held in Aragon and has highlighted that in the number of tests Catalonia would host 42 while Aragon would have 54 to underline the balance of the proposal.

On the other hand, Blanco has praised the attitude of both the Catalan Government and the political leaders of the different parties involved and has valued that the Generalitat has accepted the decision of the majority when it has had to vote. "It is not the ideal for everyone but it is the best we can present", concluded the sports director.
