Bellpuig transforms the Llotja building to create the first municipal 'coworking' space in the region

Bellpuig (Urgell) has set up a new coworking space in the Llotja building open to self-employed workers and entrepreneurs of small and medium-sized businesses. It is the first municipal space of its kind in the region and will provide new uses for a building "with a lot of potential" that until now was "very underused", according to Mayor Jordi Estiarte.

Furthermore, Estiarte added that with this transformation they want to "popularize" spaces in the municipality. Thus, the building adds three newly created co-working offices and also reuses existing spaces, such as meeting rooms, the main tile space and the bar and garden area. In fact, Estiarte has explained that there are already two residents of the municipality interested in using the offices.

Therefore, the Llotja co-working space "is now a reality" and will make it possible to make available to residents "a dignified space that gives an image of professionalism", as the mayor has pointed out. With this new service, the municipality wants to promote business development, promote innovation and facilitate the exchange of ideas.

The project has been promoted by the Department of Commerce of the Bellpuig City Council with the support of the Board of Economic Promotion of the Provincial Council of Lleida, which has contributed the 21,000 euros that it cost to adapt the space and hire a person in charge of attending. the public.

The works in the new space have consisted of the construction of three new offices, while the rest of the existing rooms have been adapted and given new uses. Specifically, there is the tiled space, from where professionals can also work when they need to, a meeting room and the great room, where congresses, presentations or proceedings can be held, broadcast by streaming. The building is complemented by a bar space and a garden.

At the moment, there are already two people interested in renting two of the three offices that have been enabled. Estiarte has explained that if the interest and demand to occupy these spaces is maintained over time, they will raise the possibility of transforming some of the existing spaces into new offices.

In addition to La Llotja, the City Council also wants to enable the hostel so that professionals can do work stays in the municipality. For example, "the idea is that a group can spend a whole week working in Bellpuig," explained Estiarte, who added that they also want this experience "dressed as coworking" to be complemented with guided tours of the natural, cultural and artistic heritage. local.
