Bayern, increasingly optimistic with Lewandowski

The future of Robert Lewandowski remains unknown. His desire to leave Munich this summer and sign for Barça is becoming a more remote option. Beyond the treasury problems of the Catalan club, mitigated in part with the economic levers approved in the assembly last week, the firm position of a Bayern without urgency to sell makes the operation difficult.

The sporting director of the Bavarians, Hasan Salihamidzic, is increasingly optimistic about the continuity of Lewandowski. In an interview with Sky Sports, the former Bosnian soccer player recalls that "right now" the chance that the striker will stay is "one hundred percent".

The meeting that Salihamidzic held in Mallorca, together with the director Oliver Kahn with the representative of the Pole, Pini Zahavi, was "a good conversation", without wanting to provide more details. "I think Lewandowski is calmer now," he said.

As to whether the situation can be fixed, Salihamidzic is "convinced." "He's a professional and he has big goals in his career, that's why it can be fixed." What he doesn't enter is speculating on the amount for which Bayern would let him go. "I don't know (laughs), as I never said I worry about things that are up in the air. I can only repeat that he has a contract until 2023."

The sports director of the Bavarian team is waiting for him on July 12 to start the preseason together with the rest of his teammates: "at least I'm waiting for him." Sadio Mané, the brand new signing from Liverpool who seemed to open the door for Lewandowski, will already be in that first session.

In his last public statement, the Pole insisted that a transfer would be "the best solution for everyone". Barça is the only destination that seduces the player, who will turn 34 in August. Despite his age, he is still a goal guarantee, as evidenced by the 50 goals scored in 46 games for Bayern this season.

The Germans rejected a first Blaugrana offer of 32 million. If they finally give in to Lewandowski's claims, the sale would be around 40 million, a price similar to what Bayern will pay for Mané, 30, if all the variables are met.
