Barcelona City Council and Bimbo joined forces to create a unique Cursa de la Mercè

We might think that Bimbo®'s greatest contribution to running is the sandwich we eat to regain strength after running. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The historic brand has joined forces with the Barcelona City Council to become the main sponsor of the Cursa de la Mercè, one of the most emblematic races in the city which, in this edition, has been renamed Cursa de la Mercè Bimbo Global Race .

From 8:30 a.m. today, Sunday, September 17, running and solidarity fill every square meter of Avinguda Maria Cristina in Barcelona; start, finish and epicenter of the celebration of the Cursa de la Mercè Bimbo Global Race 2023. More than 11,000 runners participate in the three modalities of the race: 10K, 2K inclusive and Mercè Jove (0.8K and 1.6K for young people born between 2007 and 2011). A perfect race to spend the day with family or friends.

Furthermore, this year's edition is a true party, since the organization has prepared an endless number of recreational activities for the whole family, both at the Fira de Barcelona Corridor Fair, in the days before, and at the celebration itself. of the race throughout the day today.

Like every year, registration for the race had a price of €5, allocated entirely to a charitable cause. This year, for the benefit of the Associació in via: an entity that works to prevent and eradicate the inequality that generates sexist violence.

But, also, in this edition, the alliance between Bimbo® and the Barcelona City Council has not only crystallized into a more spectacular race but there has also been a greater solidarity component. For each person registered in the race, Bimbo® Spain donates 20 slices of bread to the Food Banks, with which 200,000 Bimbo® slices are expected to be delivered to the people who need it most.

Bimbo®'s relationship with the world of running goes back several years with the creation of the Bimbo Global Race: the largest popular charity race in the world, which has already held 7 editions in 34 countries, with more than 350,000 participants and a total donation of more than 23 million Bimbo® slices.

In September 2023, this race will celebrate its eighth edition around the world. However, at Bimbo® Spain this year they were hungry for more. To celebrate an even bigger, more supportive and more sustainable race. That hunger is what has led them to ally with the Barcelona City Council to create the Cursa de la Mercè Bimbo Global Race.

If you are one of those who have not arrived in time to run the Cursa de la Mercè Bimbo Global Race, don't worry: next Sunday, September 24, you will be able to run the Bimbo Global Race virtually. If you sign up, you will be part of a community of runners from more than 30 countries and you will contribute to the solidarity effort, because Bimbo® will donate 2 more slices to the Food Banks for each registration.

Join the Bimbo Global Race Community here if you prefer to participate in the race virtually.
