Barcelona and Costa Brava present at the E-Mountain Bike World Cup

The Costa Brava and Barcelona are among the 6 venues that will host the 2023 Electric Mountain Bike World Cup, according to the calendar published by the UCI.

The World Cup of the electric bicycle modality will begin in Monaco with two rounds on May 20 and 21. The third and fourth rounds will be held on June 10 and 11 in the Bologna area (Italy).

After the summer break, the series will continue in Belgium, at the site of the iconic Spa-Francorchamps racing circuit, on dates yet to be confirmed.

The next four rounds will take place over two consecutive weekends, in Girona on September 22 and 23 and in Charade–Clermont-Ferrand (France) on September 30 and October 1.

The winners of the general classification will be crowned at the end of the races on October 21 in Barcelona. Each round will consist, as has been the case since the series launched in 2019, of one men's and one women's race.

The best 15 of the two categories of the World Cup on June 13, 2023 will obtain places for the first UCI World Championship of the modality, on August 9 in Glentress Forest, Scotland (Great Britain).

The electric mountain bike is powered by two sources of energy: human power and an electric motor that provides assistance when the rider pedals. The motor has a maximum continuous power of 250 watts and is switched off at 25 km/h.
